A bridge between ancient Siberian heritage and modern engineering. Asymmetric grind, stabilized maple, hybrid sheath of carved wood and Italian-finished cowhide. Built for the field — kept like an heirloom.
The Yakut knife is one of humanity's oldest continuous blade forms — carried by nomads of the Eastern Siberian taiga for over a millennium. Single-beveled, asymmetric, alive in the hand. We took that essential form and rebuilt it from first principles.
Every Northforge blade begins as bar stock of certified X12MF — a chromium-vanadium steel equivalent to the Western D2 tool steel class. It is forged by hand, normalized through three thermal cycles, and hardened to a narrow 60–62 HRC window that balances toughness with edge retention.
"Not a reproduction. Not a reinvention.
A conversation between eras."
From spine to sheath, four hands of work. Each component answers a question the field will eventually ask.
Each edition is produced in runs of twelve pieces. Every knife is individually numbered, documented, and accompanied by a certificate of steel certification. Lead time is 6–8 weeks from order confirmation.
